Risky Business: Ergonomic Risk Assessment

Last month we gave you a glimpse into the mind of an ergonomist when they're at a job site. Now the question is: what do you do once you’ve measured the forces, durations, repetitions, and postures that come with a job? Ergonomists use this information in conjunction with evidence-based risk assessment tools, as well as their own professional opinion, to identify the severity of MSD hazards. Once the hazard is identified and quantified, it’s the ergonomist’s job to find a solution. This can be as simple as providing a footstool so that a short employee can reach high shelves, but can also be as complicated as an entire redesign of a procedure.

Tune in this month as we take you through the process of identifying, quantifying, and eliminating MSD hazards present in a workplace.
