These headlines play into the notion that static seated postures lead to poor health and that we should all be up and standing at our workstations. Recent research suggested that sitting for a prolonged period of time correlates with a greater risk of diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.

However, consider this: How is standing in one position for 8 hours any different than sitting in one position, aside from being on your feet as opposed to in a chair?
